SportingShooter 0
You can't shoot Roe with a .223, .243 and above I'm afraid. And they will need either a DSC1 or a mentor standing by these days. Quote Link to post
v-max 2
Hi it is not compulsory to have any thing other than the proof from land owner or sporting rights holder of your land to shoot deer. Get it in writing to keep your self right & dont let police tell you that you need DMQ1 or that but it wouldent be a bad idea to look into doing it. Try get out with some one with real good knowledge not the self taught type either that think they know as you are only as good as your mentor & will learn nowt at end of the day. Quote Link to post

mattydski 560
Yeah your ok with a .223 in Scotland, I dont think SS saw your flag and played it on the safe side.. It's easier in scotland, but the best thing to do is ring your FEO and ask for his advice before you apply. Which region are you in.. Do you have permissions? Scotland are doing away with land inspections in certain areas, they put the emphasis on the shooter to decide whether it is safe or not... Quote Link to post

You can dunc & it aint a compulsory law to have DMQ to shoot deer just the permission as i stated & you need a 50g bullet minimum with 1700 or 1750ftb to shoot roe cant remember exactly but sure i will be corrected. I do know it is 5og bullet & up in the .224 cal. Quote Link to post

Minimum 1700ft lb, .240 and expanding ammo! .22CF, 50g Expanding, and 1000ft lb MINIMUM for the small deer though (CWD, Muntjac)...still no speed!! Quote Link to post
njc110381 0
If you're getting a gun purely for Deer why limit yourself to Roe? Why not try for a .243 so you can shoot all of them? Quote Link to post
